New Kyo-no-oto Inks

Let’s take a look at the four newest Kyo-no-oto inks. You can find these inks for sale at most retailers including Vanness Pens.

Swabs:

Left to right: 11 Ruri-iro, 12 Ryukuyu-iro, 13 Seiheki and 14 Yurush-iro.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry Time: 30 seconds

Water Resistance: Low-Medium

Feathering: None-Low

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None-Low

Other properties: All four had medium shading. Ruri-iro had gold shimmer and Ryukuyu-iro had silver shimmer.

On Walmart Pen + Gear copy paper there was some feathering in every nib size as well as some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Ruri-iro is closest to De Atramentis Columbia Blue Copper.

Ryukuyu-iro is less saturated than J Herbin Vert Atlantide.

Seiheki is less saturated than Sailor Ink Studio 264.

Yurush-iro is less saturated than Pilot Iroshizuku Benzaiten.

Longer Writing:

All had dry flows.

Overall, Ruri-iro and Ryukuyu-iro are lovely inks. They are dry, but otherwise well behaved and lovely colors. Yurush-iro and Seiheki are too pale and dry for me-almost impossible to read back, even in broad nibs.
