The color:

Ebi Purple-Red is a maroonish-purple.

Swabs:

In large swabs the ink looks more purple than red-purple and has just a little bit of bright green sheen.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 30 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: Low-feathers on Rhodia and Leuchtturm in the flex nib.

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low-there is some bleeding in the flex nib on Rhodia and Leuchtturm.

Other properties: medium shading, medium sheen, and no shimmer. The shading is there, but it’s subtle.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was feathering in the larger nib sizes and bleeding in the flex nib.

Comparison Swabs:

Ebisu Purple-Red seems to be a lighter version of Bungubox Sweet Potato Purple. Click here to see the Taccia inks together.

Longer writing:

I used a medium Pelikan M605 White Transparent on Tomoe River 68gsm. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, it’s a nice ink, but there’s a little bit more feathering and bleeding than I like.
