Monteverde DC Supershow Blue was debuted at the 2018 DC Pen Show, and since then has become part of the regular lineup. I love bright blues, and this one is a gorgeous blue! Thanks to Monteverde for sending it over for review.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 30 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low-there was a little bit of bleeding in the flex nib.

Other properties: medium shading, medium sheen, and no shimmer. The sheen was visible in medium, broad and flex nibs on Tomoe River paper.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was a bit of bleeding and feathering in the larger nib sizes.

Comparison Swabs:

DC Supershow is similar to Monteverde Ocean Noir, but it’s a bit brighter. Click here to see the Monteverde inks together, and click here to see the blue inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a TWSBI Eco Transparent Blue with a medium nib on Tomoe River paper. The ink had a wet flow.

Overall, it’s a gorgeous bright blue and has some shading and sheen too. It does feel like a more vibrant version of Monteverde Ocean Noir, so you probably don’t need both.
